Manipur Unrest: Time to tackle all the issues by ‘ourselves’, says PANDM

The unrest in Manipur continuing due to the SoO militants, the Peoples’ Action for National Democratic Movement (PAMDM) said on Sunday alleged that government’s silence on the present condition has given a hard time to the people living in the state, reported Imphal Free Press.

The PAMDM secretary general (in-charge) Brojendro Soraisam, while speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, said that the alleged government’s inaction has led to alleged attack on civilians by militant groups under the SoO to the illegal price hike of essential commodities.

According to him it is not the right time to wait for government’s initiative to redress the issue, it is time to tackle all the issues by ‘ourselves’.

Soraisam said that villagers in the peripheral regions have started demanding guns to defend themselves instead of relief materials. Hitting out at the both the central and state governments, Soraisam said that it is unfortunate that no action against those militants under SoO was taken who defy its ground rules.

Apart from the security issues, Soraisam pointed at the pice hike of essential commodities and said such illegally hiking prices of goods is an act of giving additional suffering to the public.
