WTC Final 2023: Ravi Shastri Picks THIS Player To Keep Wickets For India Against Australia

Rohit Sharma’s Indian team will be locking horns with Australia in the upcoming World Test Championship final at the Oval, starting from June 7. The first batch of Indian players, including Virat Kohli, Shardul Thakur Mohammed Siraj, and a few members of support staff already left for England for preparations of the high-profile clash.

Meanwhile, former India head coach Ravi Shastri spoke about the wicketkeeping choice and he feels KS Bharat would be the obvious choice for the wicketkeeper’s role in the World Test Championship final.

“You have to see who’s a better keeper. Is it Bharat or Ishan Kishan? Now, the fact that Bharat was given a run against Australia, where he played all the Test matches, I think he would be the obvious choice to go with,” Shastri said on the ICC Review.

“See, that’s another tight one (decision). Now, if two spinners are playing, then you would want Bharat to play,” said Shastri.

Rishabh Pant who has always been India’s first-choice wicketkeeper is still recuperating from the horrific car crash and his backup KL Rahul is also recovering as he went through surgery on his right thigh.

It was KS Bharat who had kept wickets during the Border-Gavaskar series earlier this year, and he is expected to get the management’s support ahead of Ishan Kishan.

“There’s not much there. It’s not that one guy is far better than the other. Batting will also come into play, whether you want Ishan Kishan’s batting to shore up the middle order. That’s another thing you’ll take into perspective,” added Shastri.

India’s Squad for the WTC final: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat (wicket-keeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, and Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper).
